Pisang Peak, located in the Annapurna region, is an excellent peak for exploration and adventure. Its western flank features a hanging glacier, presenting a significant challenge, while the western end of the ridge is guarded by large rock slabs, making the climb more technical. The first successful ascent of Pisang Peak was achieved by a German expedition in 1955.
Rising above Pisang village and surrounding yak pastures, Pisang Peak ascends in a uniform slope of ice and snow leading to its final summit pyramid. Despite being one of the lower trekking peaks in Nepal, it offers rewarding climbing experience.
The trek to the base camp follows the Annapurna Circuit route to Upper Pisang (Pisang Village). From the village, the trail ascends through sparse forest and pastures to a Kharka at 4,380 meters (14,366 ft), which is an ideal location for establishing the base camp.
The high camp is positioned at 5,400 meters along the South-West Ridge. Snow typically covers this area from late November to the end of March. From the high camp, a well-defined ridge leads to the final steep snow slope, which, while challenging, is manageable for climbers. The descent is made along the same route.
